![]() ![]() From rearchitecting how it stores your data to improving the efficiency of video streaming to unleashing the full power of your graphics processor, it’s all central to today’s Mac experience. Tells me Finder/SMB is NOT working on Qnap.MacOS High Sierra introduces new core technologies that improve the most important functions of your Mac. Searching the Internet about this is very confusing, youtube shows "Finder" drag and drop works fine while another youtube video I am ready to buy a new NAS but I very much like to have confirmed these problems are now solved. Mac users with macOS High Sierra 10.13.4 (or later) can use Time Machine for backing up Mac data to QNAP NAS vis SAMBA shared folders. Backups over SMB means your files are always backed up quickly and securely. Thanks to QNAP’s latest QTS 4.3.3 update, your NAS is now optimized for macOS Sierra. Expand your workflow with industry leading functionality that only QNAP NAS can provide. And when you are away from your workstation, your files are still accessible via remote access. MacOS Sierra support provides faster and improved finder browsing, and interoperability with file color tags. Optimized for macOS, QNAP NAS brings you terabytes of storage on hand, with incredibly fast performance and connectivity. Services enabled: SMB 3 (along with the setting of max SMB version set to 3), NFS (AFP is disabled on the NAS)Įxpand your Mac’s limited storage with QNAP NAS. MacPro 3,1 2008 connected via 1G ethernet (DHCP and Virtual switch created for 2 ethernet ports to access the rest of the network) MacBook Pro Touchbar 15" 2017 connected via Thunderbolt 3 40Gbps 2m cable (Static IP for both NAS & Laptop) I simply changed that to 'locks' on both computers and that resolved this issue. With NFS I also couldn't get FCPX to lock the open libraries, but that was because QFinder tampers with the nfs.conf and adds the value 'locallocks'. SMB is super unreliable for me - looks like a permission issue - and was wondering if any of you have an idea of what could be wrong or how to go about finding it!? Fixed IP addresses for Thunderbolt both on the laptop and the NAS (thanks to Bob Zelin!). This is all on a newly formatted High Sierra Macbook Pro Touchbar 15" 2017 via Thunderbolt 3 (but this bad SMB behaviour is identical on my older Mac Pro 2008 through the 1Gbps connection). When using NFS, the copy goes without problems. In addition to the above, when using chronosync to copy files from my other drives to the NAS, and mounted through SMB, I get 'file not found' errors, and it copies some motion templates completely messed up. The twist is that if I duplicate the library while in the SMB mount, FCPX opens it, which makes me think it's a sort of permission issue? New libraries created on the SMB share seem to work (though I've done no extensive testing yet). If I mount the same share via NFS, FCP X opens it properly. What seems to stop me is that when opening my older libraries that I've copied to the NAS, FCP X freezes on load (tech details at the end). After resolving an issue with thunderbolt 3 speed, now I'm stumbling onto another issue with SMB.īoth for reasons of performance as well as its support from fcpx 10.4 I'd like to use SMB 3.
